About

I’m Brandon Ross, a storyteller who loves to profile interesting and unique characters through video.

This is my personal site. This is my professional site. It’s all here. I spent years dividing my online presence between personal and professional. It just didn’t make sense. My work, my life and my personality don’t have walls between them. They’re all part of me. I hope this site reflects that concept.

I’ve worked in television news as a reporter, anchor, and weatherman for seven years before stepping into the world of character-driven video profiles at the TimesDaily newspaper in Florence, Ala.

I’m currently the multimedia manager and social strategist for the Military Officers Association of America where I tell stories of America’s past and current men and women in uniform. You can see some of my most recent work projects on my YouTube channel, or check out my multimedia page.

My work has been recognized by organizations like the New York Times, National Press Photographers Association, Southern Newspaper Publishers Association, and Society of Professional Journalists.

I enjoy studying human psychology, behavior, and motivations.

What’s the difference between what we say, mean and think?

I try to surround myself with positive and inspiring ideas.

I thrive on creative innovation.

Some quick facts about me:

  • I have too many pets.
  • Ole Miss football is the only sport I follow.
  • I dabble in standup comedy.
  • I am the world’s biggest Randy Travis and David Letterman fan.

Here is what some very kind people have said about me and my work:

“Brandon is simply one of the most multi-talented and creative journalists in the business.”
-Jesse Folk
Web Editor, WCPO-TV

“A model for videographers at other papers within our Regional Media Group.”
-Arthur O. Sulzberger, Jr.
Chairman, The New York Times Company

“He’s a remarkable storyteller. He’s too good for TV. Newspapers don’t understand his importance. Yet. He could very well define what it means to be a great journalist in the new media age if he doesn’t get bored with its rules and mediocre mid-managers and move onto something else. I’ve written 500 letters of recommendation for former students. No one tops Brandon Ross. I’d bet the farm on this guy. Contact me and I’ll tell you why.”
-Dr. Ralph Braseth
Student Media Manager, Loyola University Chicago

“Great work ethic. A perpetual learner. Our best video producer.”
-Crystal Lauderdale
Product Manager, Video & Multimedia, The New York Times Regional Media Group
