It Matters Not.

A bird perched on a limb.

Two people walking below, arm in arm.

The buzz of a car in the distance.

“Honey, what happened to us?”

He stops walking and releases her arm.

“Life and time. They’re useless apart from one another.

But together they change things. Always.

Sometimes for the better. Often not.

Nothing stays the same between life and time.”
