Laundry In The Yard

I’ve always had a deep respect for people who hang their laundry out in the yard for all to see.

When I was a student in college, we produced a live, 30 minute newscast every weeknight. The older I get, the more insane that idea becomes. Thirty minutes can be tough to fill in any news market. Try being a full-time student, relying on student volunteers to do it.

The point is, every night we put our laundry on the lawn. We went live over the local cable. Mistakes? Nightly. Plenty of people laughed.

It took a decent amount of courage for those kids to put their names and faces out there, knowing it wasn’t going to be perfect.

Here I am, 10 years later, and not much has changed.

I still have friends putting themselves out there. People with public blogs and journals where they vent their ideas and frustrations. Questions and worries.

I’m not talking about my blog. I mostly post silly and useless items to pass the time.

I’m proud to know people courageous enough to voice their opinions, knowing not all will agree.

I don’t believe we are called to whisper our ideas to a select few friends. If it’s something you believe in, let it be heard.

Check out my friends page for a few folks putting their voices out there.
