Memorial Day at Arlington National Cemetery

Every year since 1948, the 3rd U.S. Infantry has spent the days before Memorial Day placing American flags in front of more than 260,000 gravestones and 7,300 niches at Arlington National Cemetery. Each flag is placed one foot in front and centered before each grave marker.
